Short answer
Instagram follower and profile datasets can include public emails, phone numbers, websites, booking links, portfolios, and location text when those fields are visibly published and accessible. Coverage is never uniform and should not be guaranteed before a representative sample. Public availability also does not establish identity, ownership, consent, deliverability, or permission for every outreach use.
What coverage reporting should contain
A strong delivery reports:
- how many public profiles were processed;
- how many published each requested field;
- where each contact value came from;
- which values were absent, private, unavailable, or excluded;
- whether website-level discovery was included as a separate step.
Why buyers ask for Instagram contact fields
Follower usernames alone may not be enough for:
- creator partnership research;
- wholesale and supplier research;
- agency campaign operations;
- media guest or contributor research;
- business-profile identification;
- event or community partnerships;
- a creator marketplace or directory.
Teams therefore ask for:
first_name
last_name
business_name
username
followers_count
public_email
public_phone
website
booking_link
city
stateThat request is understandable, but Instagram profiles are not a standardized business directory.
Where public contact information may appear
Depending on the profile type and current interface, a public value may appear in:
- the biography text;
- an external URL;
- a link-in-bio destination;
- a public business contact control;
- a booking or portfolio page;
- a clearly identified business website;
- a client-approved linked public page.
Each source should be recorded. For example:
public_email_raw
public_email_source
public_email_source_url
public_email_collected_atPossible source values:
instagram_biography
instagram_public_contact_field
profile_external_url
approved_business_website
approved_link_in_bio_pageWhy coverage is often low
Many profiles are personal rather than business accounts. Others publish a website but no email, use direct messages as their preferred contact channel, or send visitors to a link-in-bio page.
Creator-marketing discussions describe the same friction: some influencers do not list business emails, while some published addresses are personal or rarely monitored. Reddit: influencer business-email difficulty (opens in a new tab)
Coverage can also be affected by:
- private profiles;
- unavailable or renamed profiles;
- links that have expired;
- JavaScript-heavy link pages;
- email obfuscation;
- ambiguous location text;
- contact fields visible only in certain supported contexts;
- profiles that intentionally publish no off-platform contact.
Report coverage instead of promising a list size
A contact-enrichment summary might say:
audience_identities_collected: 100,000
public_profiles_processed: 82,400
biography_present: 61,900
external_url_present: 29,600
public_email_present: 9,800
public_phone_present: 2,100
location_text_present: 14,300Useful percentages:
public_profile_access_rate
biography_coverage
website_coverage
public_email_coverage
public_phone_coverage
location_text_coverageThe denominator must be stated. “Email coverage: 12%” is ambiguous unless the reader knows whether it means 12% of all collected follower identities or 12% of successfully processed public profiles.
Separate published email from discovered email
These are different services.
Source-published email
The email is visibly present on the approved Instagram profile or included public contact surface.
Approved website discovery
The profile publishes a website or link, and the project separately visits an approved public business page to look for a business contact.
Third-party enrichment
A separate vendor or source is used to find or verify additional contact data.
The default Instagram audience offer should lead with source-published fields. Website discovery can be an optional, clearly labelled expansion. Third-party enrichment should never be mixed into the source-published column without provenance.
Preserve bio links in order
The first bio link is not always the only useful link. A link page may contain:
- store;
- portfolio;
- booking calendar;
- newsletter;
- YouTube channel;
- TikTok profile;
- media kit;
- contact form.
For a spreadsheet:
bio_link_1
bio_link_2
bio_link_3
bio_link_4
bio_link_5
bio_link_6For a database, create one row per link with its order and destination type.
Orzaen has used a 17-field public profile schema with up to six bio links across six connected entertainment accounts. See the multi-account entertainment audience case study.
Be conservative with names and locations
Names
Display names may contain:
- brand names;
- emojis;
- credentials;
- several people;
- slogans;
- a creator alias.
Do not force every display name into first and last name columns. Use:
display_name_raw
first_name_parsed
last_name_parsed
name_parse_statusLeave parsed fields blank when the structure is unclear.
Locations
A biography may say:
NYC / LA
Serving North Texas
London to Dubai
Worldwide shippingThese are not equivalent to a verified city and state. Retain location_text_raw and apply a documented rule only where the business need justifies it.
Validate syntax without overstating accuracy
An email can pass a syntax check and still be:
- outdated;
- a personal address;
- a shared inbox;
- unrelated to the profile owner;
- unable to receive mail;
- unsuitable for the client's intended use.
Recommended fields:
public_email_raw
public_email_normalized
email_syntax_valid
email_source
email_source_url
email_collected_atIf external deliverability verification is included, label the provider and verification date. Do not describe syntax validation as “verified email.”
Public does not mean pre-approved for outreach
The collector and the client should review:
- the intended use;
- applicable privacy law;
- platform rules;
- whether the address is personal or business-facing;
- required notices;
- suppression and opt-out processes;
- data retention and deletion obligations;
- the country or region of the profile and sender.
For U.S. commercial email, the FTC's CAN-SPAM guidance requires accurate headers, non-deceptive subject lines, identification, a valid postal address, and an opt-out method. Other jurisdictions may require a different or stricter legal basis. FTC CAN-SPAM compliance guide (opens in a new tab)

Frequently asked questions
Can every Instagram follower be matched to an email?
No. Many profiles publish no public email, and private or unavailable profiles may not expose profile details.
Is an email in a biography a business email?
Not necessarily. Preserve the source-published value and let the client review its relevance and permitted use.
Can a website be used to find another email?
It can be included as a separate approved website-discovery scope. The delivery should distinguish Instagram-published fields from website-discovered fields.
Can city and state be extracted from the biography?
Only when a conservative rule can identify the meaning reliably. Retain the raw location text and avoid turning ambiguous phrases into verified geography.
Should blank contact fields be removed?
No. Blanks help measure field coverage. Use status fields to distinguish not published, private, unavailable, excluded, and failed.
